Twitter

Pablo and I had a brief nice long debate about Twitter the other day. He says that he values his privacy too much to Tweet.

A professor I work with told Pablo that she believed that Twitter-ing just caused information overload (of course I’m paraphrasing… there’s probably a whole academic line of thought that I missed).

But I think it’s premature to dismiss this micro-blogging tool. When used right, it could be a good communication tool between coworkers, family and friends:

  • I couldn’t find a colleague with whom I had a sushi date, so I tweeted for her
  • I got a few hits to my Amazon Webstore through a tweet
  • Let classmates know that I was applying what I learned in the classroom to the outside world (and received extra credit for it!)

As an early adopter, time has yet to tell what potential Twitter has in my career and beyond.
