Officially a Blogger

Does this make me a bona fide blogger?  A ping-back from Washington Post about my link to their op-ed:

A good way to find fellow bloggers with similar interests who may not be widely recognized on the blogosphere (like me).

sherry, what does that mean? you posted something and got a ping back? did that help you with traffic?

i guess im just confused about pingbacks/trackbacks. what are they? how are they useful?

AA: Functionally, it just makes two-way connections. It’s most useful when you’re the article author. McManus could know who her audience is and what they’re saying about her.

But for me, it’s useful to see who else has blogged about that page to find people with similar interests. Didn’t increase traffic here, but I see potential, particularly if it’s about a top-story/breaking news.
