The Prague Astronomical Clocktower was an awesome sight. I couldn’t get enough pictures of it, and got a real good feel for the various ISO and flash settings on the camera.

The oldest part of the Orloj, the mechanical clock and astronomical dial, dates back to 1410 when it was made by clockmaker Mikuláš of Kadaň and Jan Šindel, a professor of mathematics and astronomy at Charles University.
Around 1490, the calendar dial was added and clock facade decorated with gothic sculptures.

Oh wait, I mean L-I-L-Y… I learned that lesson at the Puente Hills Mall Spelling Bee when I was five. Only three contestants away from a set of World Book Encyclopedias!

This wild lily was growing on the top of the hills above Kamakura. It was a nice happenstance after about 90 minutes of hiking up a muddy, slippery path in 109 degree weather and intense humidity.
I was miserable, needless to say. But I logged 32,000 steps this day!

I was intrigued at how modern, bright and crisp it was. Such a contrast to the stuffier mission-style California wineries and tasting rooms.
The modernity worked for sparkling wines, but I think I appreciate the ambiance at traditional California wineries more.
Nonetheless, Bohemia Sekt were wonderful hosts to 30+ business students and sent us home with a bottle of Rosé!
90% of sparkling wine sales occur around the holidays and New Year. In order to increase sales in the summer, Bohemia Sekt began a strawberries and sparkling wine campaign, then other seasonal fruits with sparking wine. This has increased their sales throughout the non-holiday year manifold.
